Koh Samui, Thailand daily weather update; 13th April, 2015

Today's weather;

Sabai dee pee mai, krab or Happy (Thai) New Year. Today is Songkran or the waterfights of Songkran.

It's partially cloudy today over Koh Samui and according to the forecast, we might have some rain today, besides the usual Songkran water. Current temp at 7am is 28.1C

Regarding the bombing, no updates, except that the motivation of the bombing is deemed political or maybe even connected to recent internal power struggles on the island.
All Songkram events on the island will happen as announced, nothing is cancelled. Yesterday saw a foam party at Central Festival with more events scheduled for today.

A more traditional way of celebrating Songkran in Nathon this morning. At 9am there will be  a similar ceremony at Phru Chaweng or Chaweng lake

Yesterday saw a warm and sunny day around Koh Samui, although there was some cloud cover at times. Max temp reached 32.8C

We had a swift and eventless drive from Khao Lak to Koh Samui yesterday, it was only busy at the Seatran pier in Donsak, but since we had a reservation for the ferry, it was easy. The roads on Koh Samui were busier compared to the mainland.

Day three of the seven dangerous days of Songkran or Thai New Year saw a decline in fatalities compared to last year by 21%.

The 'new' version of Songkran, near Soi Green Mango in Chaweng. Most likely our family can be found there later today.

The forecast predicts a bit of rain and cloud cover today, followed by two days of rain and clouds bu
t come Thursday it should all be nice again.
